The World's Cheapest Wine Buffet and Snowboarding Trip

Well, what a weekend!
It all started on Friday evening before catching our night bus to Nagano. Casually looking for a bite to eat before our epic journey, we stumbled across an Italian restaurant which was having a special promotion for Christmas dinner- ¥1000 ($12 AUD) 3 hour wine buffet. Despite the risk of severe drunkenness and motion sickness, we decided it was an opportunity too good to refuse and enjoyed many a glass of vino with our meal-after all, it was December 25th!
Once arriving in Nagano at 6:30am (Chihiro with her head in a plastic bag for the first 1 hour), it was time to dump our bags and hit the slopes!
I definitely don't claim to be a leading authority on Snowboarding, though I'm pretty certain we found ourselves in some fantastic conditions for sliding. Saturday and Sunday were good, but Monday was BRILLIANT! The amount of snow that fell brought tons of powdery enjoyment to the top of the resort and plenty of chances to try some new things without the risk of ending up black and blue. The weekend went by too fast (as it always seems to), though I can confidently say I'll be trying to plan another trip before the end of the season!

Highlights from the trip:
  • Powder snow.
  • The crazy American guy snowboarding without any goggles, gloves or jacket!
  • The Katsu Don (Pork Cutlet with egg served over rice)- So good, we ate for lunch everyday.
  • The zombie like waiters at our hotel, nice kids though.
  • Chi-chan almost being frozen solid. Lesson learnt-water proof gloves and a pair of goggles is a must!
  • All the friendly staff out and about the resort!
