2009 in a nutshell

2 weddings, a handful of triathlons, 4 countries and many new found friends....that was the year 2009.

It all started with a trip back home for 2 weddings; the first- Glenn and Monique's, followed by my best mate-Chiton and Ph0ng. This trip also included ちーちゃん meeting my family for the first time, a trip to the Yarra Valley, a game of cricket, going to the beach and a few (or maybe too many) beers!

Feb and March brought, terribly cold weather, Drew and Toby to Japan, 2 very painful debut Marathon performances and 29th birthday involving a sumptuous dinner and super useful presents (love you babe!).

April and May, welcomed the start of spring, numerous Cherry Blossom Parties, and the beginning of an enjoyable triathlon season!

June, July, August and September- Ironman Japan (one of the most amazing challenges of my short life) ushered in the summer. Physically tiring, mentally excruciating, but wouldn't change a minute of it! Plenty of BBQ's (as if an Aussie has ever needed an excuse for a barbie)! And how could I forget ちーちゃん‘s fantastic birthday "festival" at Tokyo Disneyland and Disneysea.

October, November and December- As the weather started to cool down, the chance to slacken off the training, eat an ever-ending smorgasbord and concentrate on running was the theme of late Autumn and early winter. Christmas evening was spent with ちーちゃん devouring Italian food and an all you can drink wine buffet, before embarking on a 3 day snowboarding trip to Nagano. As I'm writing this blog, I'm enjoying the fine company of ちーちゃん‘s family after eating a wonderful selection of sushi, especially prepared for the occasion.

Wishing everyone and safe and joyful 2010!

Pete
